Volunteer With Us

Volunteer service is critical to the success of the Girl Scout movement.  Here's why:

  • Girls who have been on a waiting list will have to opportunity to be in a troop.
  • More program events are planned for girls.
  • Leaders have the support that they need.
  • TIGSC's Board of Directors is comprised of committed individuals.
  • There are sufficient training opportunities so that leaders feel competent in their roles.
  • Individually registered Girl Scouts are included in program activities.
  • Because one person is wearing fewer hats that adults stay in our organization longer.
  • TIGSC's has awesome people who want to make a difference in the life of a girl!
  • It means that there are adults registered as Girl Scouts sharing similar goals--to make Girl Scouting great for all girls in northern New York!

How to Become a Volunteer

First, you have to be a registered Girl Scout. The fee is $10.00 and there is financial aid available if you need it. Adult Girl Scouts can be men or women over the age of 18. You must request a membership registration form from the Council Service Center. There is no online registration process.

Request a Volunteer Application, fill it out, and send it in. We will conduct a background check and notify you of the results. Whether you want to help at the troop, Neighborhood or council level, we will find a spot that matches you with your talents. Click here to see the Troop Leader job description.

Positions other than leader are also available. Click here to find out more.

Once you are approved as a volunteer, we will contact someone in your area to find a position for you. From there, you will embark on an awesome adventure!
